Tintagel Old Post Office is one of the National Trust’s most delightful medieval buildings, it is located directly opposite King Arthurs Car Park.   The building is over 600 years old and in 1903 it was acquired by the National Trust  for £200.

Tintagel Old Post Office is closed for the winter. The house and garden will re-open in March 2026.  The Old Post Office does not have its own parking for staff or members. King Arthur’s Car Park is directly opposite!

Tintagel Castle is a magical day out with its wonderful location, set high on the rugged North Cornwall coast. It offers dramatic views and the fascinating ruins of the legendary castle. The site together with its splendid new bridge is a short walk away. The site does not have its own parking for staff or members.

Tintagel is famous for being the birthplace of the legendary King Arthur of Camelot. A heroic leader of the Knights of the Round Table, and the man who pulled Excalibur from the stone. Whether you believe the legends are true or not, visiting Tintagel Castle has to be on anyone’s bucket list.

A Summer shuttle service usually is available up and down the steep hill to or from the castle ruins, there is a fee for this service.

Hall Of Chivalry And King Arthur’s Great Exhibition Hall opened in 1933 and is much visited by Arthurian followers. Boasting 73 stained glass windows and lots of information about King Arthur the knights of the round table.

Pubs, cafes, restaurants are waiting to welcome you, including The King Arthur’s Arms Inn which is situated in Fore Street next to King Arthur’s Car Park. The King Arthur’s Arms is a family friendly pub, providing good food and comfortable accommodation with free to use High Speed Wi-Fi. Children are very welcome, accompanied and supervised by an adult. Dogs are welcome on leads. Ground level access with no steps easily accessible by wheelchairs and pushchairs. Tintagel fund raisers worked hard to raise funds to purchase Public Access defibrillator’s. There are now 3 of these lifesaving machines positioned around the village. One of which is fixed onto the wall of King Arthur’s Arms, this point also has an emergency bleed first aid kit.

In the village we have a selection of independent shops as well as a Pharmacy, fudge making shop, pasty making shop displaying their skills, a visitor information centre, hardware shop, exquisite made in Cornwall Hand Crafted Glass Wall Art shop, a small pottery (where you can watch pieces being made), The Witches in the Wilderness shop offering Tarot and palm readings, charity shop, gift shops, a shop selling Tintagel honey, and grocery shops including a village market store also selling lottery tickets.

Tintagel does not have a garage for petrol or diesel.  Fuel for your car is available at Delabole or Camelford both 5-6 miles away.
